Water Window

A light breeze from the other side of Walker Lake, on the eastern side of the Sierras below Mono Pass in Yosemite's high country, created some waves which came across the lake in the early morning, making a beautiful soothing "window" to the underwater rocks at the shore.  It was a peaceful moment as I hoisted a heavy pack for a climb up to Mono Pass and a solo six-day ski journey to Yosemite Valley in the spring of 1978.
